FAQWhere is my video footage stored and is it truly private?

All video footage is stored locally on your BeeStation Plus. You retain full data ownership at all times.

How do I know remote access to my camera is secure?

Remote access is provided through Synology QuickConnect, which establishes an encrypted connection between your phone and BeeStation Plus. Video streams are encrypted end to end and are never routed through Synology servers. Your data always remains on your own BeeStation Plus.

Do I need a BeeStation Plus to use BeeCamera?

Yes. BeeStation Plus is required. It serves as the central hub for video storage and system management for BeeCamera.

How much recording time can the BeeStation Plus storage hold?

BeeStation Plus includes 8 TB of built in storage with about 6.98 TB usable. This storage is shared across everything on BeeStation Plus, including files, photos, backups, and BeeCamera recordings. Recording time is not fixed and depends on how the camera is used.

Key factors include:

  • Recording mode
    Continuous Recording stores video nonstop, while Event Recording saves footage only when an event is detected.
  • Video quality settings
    Higher video quality results in clearer footage but uses more storage.
  • Scene activity
    Areas with frequent motion or visual changes typically generate larger video files than mostly static scenes.

As a result, recording time is not fixed and varies with storage usage and recording behavior.

What happens if my home Wi-Fi or internet is unstable?

For local recording, the Synology camera and BeeStation Plus need to be connected to the same home Wi-Fi.

  • Scenario 1: ISP outage, router still powered on
    If your internet connection is temporarily unavailable but your local network remains active, recording continues to BeeStation Plus as usual.
  • Scenario 2: Home network or router outage
    If the router loses power or the camera can’t reach BeeStation Plus over the local network, recording behavior depends on whether a microSD card is installed.
  • With a microSD card installed, recordings are saved on the camera during the outage and transferred to BeeStation Plus when the connection is restored.
  • Without a microSD card, recording pauses until the connection is restored.
Can I share live feeds or recordings with family or friends?

Yes. You can share access in the BeeCamera app with up to 8 shared users. BeeCamera uses the same shared user list as BeeStation Plus, so the person must first be added as a BeeStation Plus shared user before granting camera access via BeeCamera app.
Shared users can view live feeds and recordings, take snapshots, share clips, and add or remove moments in the shared Collection.

Can I easily share specific footage with police or neighbors?

Yes. You can share specific clips in two simple ways depending on what you need.

Download and share a single clip:Open the event you want, tap Share, and you can share it via messaging apps (iMessage, Line, etc.) or save it to your phone files.

Note:1 TB equals 1 trillion bytes. The actual usable capacity is approximately 6.98 TB.You can share access in the BeeCamera app with up to 8 shared users. BeeCamera uses the same shared user list as BeeStation Plus, so the person must first be added as a BeeStation Plus shared user before granting camera access via BeeCamera app.Recording and playback require BeeStation Plus and the cameras to be on the same local network. In most home setups, connecting both to the same router is enough. If you use features such as guest Wi-Fi, device isolation, or VLAN segmentation, you may need to adjust your router settings to allow them to communicate locally.
